Dear Fellow Devon Breeders,

As 2008 Show and Sale Committee chairman, it gives me great pleasure to announce today that Culpeper, Virginia has been chosen as site of the 2008 American Devon Cattle Association’s Great Event. The Show and Sale will be held on the grounds of the Culpeper County Ag Expo, a few minutes drive from historic Culpeper, Virginia, on Saturday, October 25th. Anyone consigning an animal will receive 2 free tickets to Kit Pharo’s philosophies and the ADCA Banquet on Oct. 24th.

We have a very exciting lineup of events and a very busy schedule of Association business starting the evening of Thursday, October 23rd with the 2008 ADCA Annual Meeting. Don’t miss your chance to be heard.

Wake up the following morning and head to Jeremy Engh’s Lakota Ranch for a Field Day featuring his ground breaking Forage Bull Test. At Lakota, Jeremy will entertain us with information about the progress of bulls from all breeds, head to head, foraging on grass alone. If I can put my two cents in, “GO DEVONS!” That evening, kick the dirt off your boots and head to the 2008 ADCA Banquet Dinner. The evening will include a nice meal, great conversation with your fellow Devon breeders, a few awards for the worthy and a keynote speaker who will for now remain nameless!

Head back to the Best Western, Culpeper (*) and get a good night’s sleep because the best is yet to come. Saturday morning, walk amongst the beautiful red cattle, pick out your favorites and get ready to crown a few champions as the ADCA presents the 2008 Great Event, starting in the morning with the Show. After the Show, catch your breath, take one last look at the Ruby Reds and get ready for the Sale early that afternoon. Last years event showcased some 40 lots of great Devon genetics consisting of heifers, cows, bulls, embryos and semen. Animals were purchased by smart cattlemen from Montana to Maine and we hope to build on last year’s success this year in Culpeper. It promises to be something special!

The Great Event is open to anyone interested in Devon Cattle. No backroom meetings or secret handshakes are necessary, just the promise of straight talk, life lessons, and prosperous futures based on breeding and raising these amazing animals. Join me and many other cattlemen with their eye on the future, October 23-25 in Culpeper, Virginia for the 2008 ADCA Annual Show and Sale.
