2006 Cattle Show Highlights
The 2006 Devon Cattle Show combined both visual phenotype and ultrasound data appraisal. Dr Allen Williams of Tallgrass Beef performed the ultra sounding. Ray Ladner performed the visual appraisals on the animals just prior to and after leaving the ultrasound chute. The results of each phase were combined and a champion was chosen in this manner for the different classes.
Lakota Ranch of Remington, Virginia, garnered both the Grand Champion Female and Grand Champion Bull honors. If there had been a Premier Breeder, Lakota Ranch would have taken both Premier Breeder and Premier Exhibitor of the show, as several of the other exhibitors were showing cattle purchased from the Enghs at Lakota Ranch.

Dr. Williams commented on the exceptional quality based on his ultrasound data readings. All the Devon animals scored at the show were above the minimums required by Tallgrass Beef.
This is the first show the Devons have participated in a number of years. Enthusiasm ran high and next years show is already being discussed. Your suggestions for improvements are solicited.
More details on individual class participants will follow in later updates.
