A Letter from the President

First I would like to introduce myself. I live in Canton, NC with my wife Martha. We have two children, a son James, whom is married to a lovely young lady named Julie, and a daughter named Robin. Our family has been raising Devons since 1988. We currently have 45 brood cows. Devons definitely are a big part of my life. I would like for you to know I am pure country, and a bit old fashioned. My family, our way of life, and Devon cattle are the pride and joy of my life. When someone tells me they will do something, I take their word for it.
I would like to thank everyone that took part in the Grass Genetics Showcase. As your President, I would like for all American Devon Cattle Association members and breeders to join together to promote our breed. I ask that the breeders start registering their animals so they can be counted in the Devon Registry. I think we should all act as adults, work together to show we are proud to say our motto “Supreme Beef on Grass.” It should be hard for someone to say “What is the Association doing for me?” if they are not willing to come forward and ask “What could I do to help the Devon breed?”
I am not one to make a quick decision. If you need to discuss something with me, we will talk. Don’t be surprised if you hear me say I’ll have to think about it and get back with you. I will call you back. I hope to get acquainted with more members. We need to have more communication between officers and members. I will always be willing to discuss Devons and ways to make them more noticeable to the public. In order to aid in better communication, several changes have already occurred on the website. A buy-sell page, a Blog site, and banner ads will be online in the near future.
I raise Devons for a living so I am at home most the time. Please feel free to contact me at 828-235-8269, if I am not in, leave a message and I will call you back. You can also e-mail me.
Stand tall and be proud of your Devons!
Respectfully,
Charles Trantham – ADCA President
